Soldiers Being Sent to Middle East in Response to Protests
Over the last couple days, the US Embassy in Baghdad found itself the victim of militant attacks. The US conducted air strikes in response to a recent Iranian attack that killed a US contractor. At least 25 people were killed and 51 wounded and it sparked major outrage. Security personnel were forced to respond with tear gas in order to repel hundreds of protesters who attempted to break into the embassy. They scaled walls, smashed windows, burned items, and even threw rocks. Despite their attempts, they were not successful in breaching the compound. President Trump said, “Iran killed an American contractor, wounding many. We strongly responded, and always will. Now Iran is orchestrating an attack on the US Embassy in Iraq. They will be held fully responsible!” Approximately 750 soldiers will be sent to the middle east as soon as possible in response.
