Missing Chilean Plane
Shocking news today as a military plane headed to Antarctica went missing. The plane departed from Punta Arenas, Chile and lost contact with control towers approximately 2 hours and 20 minutes after take off, about 450 miles into their trip. Air Force General Eduardo Mosqueira said that the plane never activated a distress signal and leads him to believe the pilot, who was a trained professional with extensive experience, was forced to touch down on water. Eight planes and four ships were sent out immediately and are frantically searching the waters. The plane is assumed to have gone down somewhere in the Drake Passage. Aboard the plane were 38 passengers. The passengers consisted of soldiers, civilians, one student and members of air force as well as the crew. No names will be released until families have been notified.
