Rogers, Julia

Mrs. Julia Boggs Steed Rogers, age 80, of Lumberton, passed away on Tuesday, July 12, 2011 at Southeastern Regional Medical Center in Lumberton. She was born on April 9, 1931 in Richlands, NC to the late McKenzie Bradford Steed and the late Julia Ward Boggs Steed. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Hubert N. Rogers, Jr. Mrs. Rogers is survived by her son, Hubert N. Rogers, III and special friend, Phyllis High, both of Lumberton; her daughter, Beth Thorndyke and husband, Andy of Sunset Beach, NC; her sister-in-law, Jacqueline Rogers Scott of Laurinburg; three grandchildren, Amanda T. Baxley, Drew Thorndyke and Jordan Thorndyke and three-great grandchildren, Emma and Hannah Baxley and Brianna Thorndyke. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 14, 2011 at 11:00AM at the Gardens of Faith Mausoleum Chapel with Rev. Joe Bounds and Dr. David Elks officiating. A time of visitation will be held on Wednesday evening, July 13, 2011 from 6:00-8:00PM at Floyd Mortuary & Crematory, Inc., 809 East 5th Street, Lumberton. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 938. Lumberton, NC 28359 or a charity of one‘s choice.
