LAKE CITY: Mrs. Anne Young Marsh entered into eternal rest on Saturday, July 9th, 2011. Mrs. Marsh was born in Switchback, West Virginia on July 28th, 1922, to the late Ida Belle Lovell Hendrick and Walter Wilson Hendrick. Mrs. Marsh attended Emmanuel Academy in Franklin Springs, Georgia where she met her first husband, Howard Glenn Young, Sr. of Lake City. Although born and reared in the mountains, Mrs. Marsh loved Lake City from the time she first saw the town in 1942. Besides being a homemaker, Mrs. Marsh was employed for several years at the Pee Dee Center for Disabilities and Special Needs in Florence. She was a member of Lake City Pentecostal Church and the Mae Wall Sunday School Class. Mrs. Marsh surviving family includes her daughter, Glenda Young Sweet, of Conway; her son, Michael Young, of Scranton; her grandson, Ashley Lovell Bruton, and his wife, Sarah Bassin, of Columbia; her granddaughter, Tara Bruton Boyle; her two great-grandchildren, Brandon Joseph Boyle and Hannah Grace Boyle, all of Conway; her three step-daughters, Betty Jean and Percy Godwin, Frances and Lou Salgueiro, and Linda and Glynn Webster, all of Lake City; her step-son, Eddie Joe, Jr. and Cheryl Marsh, of Lake City; her three loving sisters, Nora Young, Ruby Kelly, and Billie Carter; and two special friends, Thelma Disher and Johnny Hanna. Mrs. Marsh is preceded in death by her foster parents, Mollie Ellen Solomon and the Reverend Grant Edgar Lovell, who reared her; a step-mother, Lizzie Hendrick; her husbands, Howard Glenn Young, Sr., Paul Knowlton Sullivan, and Eddie Joe Marsh, Sr.; her son, Howard Glen Young, Jr.; her grandson, James Walter Bruton, II; her great-grandson, Benjamin Charles Boyle; her four sisters, Beulah Hendrick Watercutter, Ada Hendrick Richardson, Mary Hendrick Frakes, and Pearl Jane Hendrick Horn; and by her seven brothers, Walter Hendrick, Wilson Hendrick, Ted Hendrick, John Hendrick, William Hendrick, James Hendrick, and George Hendrick, with whom she grew up. Dr. Jerry Howell will conduct Mrs. Marsh‘s funeral service, which will be held at three o‘clock p.m., Monday, July 11th, 2o11 in Brockington Funeral Home. A special remembrance eulogy will be given by Mr. Johnny Hanna and special music will be sung by Dr. Preston McKever-Floyd. Visitation will be held in the funeral home following the services.
