Ray , Bobby
Bobby “H.W.” Dwight Ray, age 78, passed away on July 7, 2011 in Laurinburg, N.C. He was born on November 10, 1932 to Ed and Florence Ray in Williamson, N.C. Bobby served as a Staff Sergeant in the Army during the Korean War. Bobby worked at John Blue Company and Laurinburg Milling; he has been retired for many years. He had a passion for writing poetry and wrote many poems for family and friends. He loved Gospel and Country music and was also an avid Tar Heel fan. Bobby was well known for his great sense of humor and he was a friendly, outgoing, caring person who loved people. Bobby is survived by his much beloved wife of 56 years Betty Haynes Ray of the home, two sons, Ronald T. Ray of Rockford, Illinois and Darrell G. Ray of Laurinburg; a daughter, Sharon Ray Adair (John Charles) of Laurel Hill; five grandchildren and many great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by two brothers, Bernice Ray and Edsel Ray, and two sisters, Odessa Jones and Mary Sue Hicks. The family would like to express special thanks to John Adair and Fabian Troublefield for the loving care they gave to Bobby during the duration of his illness. A graveside service will be held on July 11th at 11:00am at Scotland Cemetery in Laurinburg, N.C. McDougald Funeral Home and Crematorium is serving the family.
