More California Casualties
This week's wildfires are now the deadliest ever recorded in the state's history.
More fatalities from California wildfires Thursday, making this the deadliest week ever when it comes to wildfires in the state. Thirty-one people died this week, breaking the previous record of 29 dead during a fire back in the early 1930’s. New wildfire evacuations ordered Thursday, while other areas were put on notice. Strong winds have only intensified the flames, prompting fire crews to come in from across the country, and the extra personnel is going to be needed during what’s forecasted to be a dry, windy week. Thousands of Californians are staying in shelter. There’s still no official cause for thefires but investigators are looking at the possibility that high winds caused power lines to fall on Sunday, and that could have sparked dry vegetation.
