Wicked Wildfires
Deadly wildfires have scorched their way through California, and strong winds expected today can only make things worse.
Over a dozen wildfires broke out in northern California Sunday night and Monday morning. By Tuesday, officials said hundreds of people were reported missing, at least fifteen confirmed dead, and over fifteen hundred homes destroyed. At least one hundred thousand acres of land are impacted. Flames from the Tubbs fire have burned at least twenty-seven thousand acres in Sonoma and Napa counties, and the atlas fire in Napa county has burned at least twenty-five thousand acres. Neither are contained. Officials say they’re having difficult communicating because fiber lines and cell towers were hit by fires. The governor of California has declared a state of emergency in nine counties.
