Peppers Named NFC Defensive Player Of The Week

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Julius Peppers was named the NFC Defensive Player of the Week for his performance in Carolina’s 33-30 win over the New England Patriots.

Peppers had two sacks, four tackles and three quarterback hurries in the game.  With 4.5 sacks on the season, Peppers leads the Panthers and is fifth in the NFL.

The all-time leader in Panthers’ history with 85.5, the 37-year-old Peppers also has the most sacks of any active player with 148.  He ranks fifth in NFL history  and is only 2.5 sacks behind Chris Doleman.

Luke Kuechly and Peppers are now tied for most Defensive Player of the Week awards with four each.  Peppers has seven Defensive Player of the Week awards in his career.
