Irma’s Destruction Detailed

Clean-up continues after Hurricane Irma.

The scale of the damage caused by Hurricane Irma is starting to come into focus. People in battered areas of Florida are trying to figure out what to do now that they’ve gotten a clear look at their homes and businesses. A quarter of the houses the Florida Keys were destroyed by Irma, and nearly every home on the islands sustained some sort of damage. It’s somewhat better in other parts of Florida, although many remain in the dark. Power companies on the state’s west coast are being honest with customers, telling them not to expect electricity for at least another week.
