Williamson, Thomas

Thomas Williamson of Laurinburg passed away on Wednesday, June 15, 2011 at the age of 85. Funeral services with Masonic Rites will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, June 17, 2011 at the Richard Boles Funeral Service Chapel officiated by Rev. Clayton Gwenn, Rev. Horace Oxendine and Dr. Jerry Jones. Burial with Military Honors will follow at Hillside Cemetery. Thomas was born November 15, 1925 in Scotland County, son of the late Lacy Williamson and Nellie Burdell Williamson. He was a World War II Navy Veteran that was awarded the Bronze Star Medal and Purple Heart Medal for his bravery and service. He worked in textiles retiring as supervisor from Springs Mills after many years of dedicated service. He served as a longtime faithful member of Pleasant View Presbyterian Church. He was a 50 year member of the Laurinburg Masonic Lodge #305 AF & AM. Mr. Tom loved his family and their time together. He enjoyed going to McDonald‘s all during the day gathering with friends. He also enjoyed playing golf, woodworking, fishing and hunting. He was preceded in death by his brother, Buck Williamson. Surviving is his loving wife of 68 years, Alvis Baxley Williamson of their home in Laurinburg; three daughters, Patricia Williamson Campbell and husband Richard Campbell of Laurinburg, Dr. Janice Williamson Smith and husband Ret. Col. Gordon R. Smith of Gainesville, GA, Priscilla “Gail” Williamson Holcombe and husband Phil Holcombe of Shallotte; four sisters, Maxine White of Red Springs, Betty Fields and husband Ralph of Laurinburg, Annette Vaive of Marshall, MI, Johnnie Inman of Lumberton; five grandchildren, Elaine Campbell, Dora Lowery, Amanda Smith, Zachary Holcombe, Hannah Holcombe; five great grandchildren, Benny Derrick Dimery, Richard Thomas Dimery, Chase Austin Jones, Chance Tyler Jones, Rachel Thompson-Smith and great-great granddaughter, Lacey Ann Dimery; several nieces, nephews and many friends. Visitation will be held from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. prior to the service on Friday at Richard Boles Funeral Service.
