Horace Reese Tyler, 84, the beloved husband of Claudia Avant Tyler, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday morning, June 9, 2011, at the Tidelands Community Hospice House. Mr. Tyler was born the son of Frank Valentine Tyler and Louise Parrott Tyler on January 7, 1927 in Lake City. He was a farmer and a faithful member of the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church serving over the years as a Sunday School teacher, in Brotherhood Men‘s Fellowship, and a Deacon. His award winning fishing stew will be dearly missed by the local community. He was an avid outdoors man who loved hunting and fishing. Horace and Claudia were married November 8, 1952, and celebrated 58 years together. From their blessed union were: three children, Paul Wayman (Shirley) Tyler, Wade H. Tyler, and Robin Tyler; four grandchildren, Bruce Tyler, Brandy (Tony) DeHaas, Chase Tyler, and Bailey Tyler; and five great grandchildren. He leaves behind: two brothers, Cecil (Nina) Tyler, Clifford (Mary Lee) Tyler; three sisters, Ronelle Moore, Alice Mae Barlette, and Juanita (Baylis) Elliott; and a large extended family including Earline Tyler and number of nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by: his parents; Jack Tyler, Carl Tyler, Alger Tyler; and one sister, Nellie Davis Funeral service with Military Honors will be 11 AM, Monday, June 13, 2011 at the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church with interment in the church cemetery directed by the Hemingway Chapel of McKenzie Funeral Home.
