West-Owens, Marjorie

Marjorie P. Anthony West-Owens, the beloved wife of Daniel Thomas Owens and the widow of Clyde Jennings West, Sr., went home to be with her Lord and join her waiting loved ones on Saturday morning, June 4, 2011, at the Tidelands Community Hospice House. Mrs. Owens was born a daughter of Ernest Calhoun Anthony and Lillie Belle Weeks Anthony on September 6, 1927 in Spartanburg, SC. She was a 1945 graduate of Spartanburg High School and was a homemaker for the early years of her children‘s lives. In 1958, she joined the staff of Georgetown Memorial Hospital and in 1990 retired as a Dietitian after 32 of service. She was a faithful member of Lakewood Baptist Church where she has served for many years as the Nursery Teacher, in the Women‘s Missionary Union, in the Violet Long Sunday School Class, and in the Adult Choir. She was the epitome of a “Southern Lady” with a loving heart that extended beyond her spouse, children, grandchildren, to reach her church and community.
