Cain, Leonard Earl

Leonard Earl Cain of Sanford went to be with the Lord on May 31, 2011. He was born to Aaron Brady Cain and Katie McLaurin Cain on Oct. 11, 1934, in the Cumberland County community of Eastover, NC. He began his career in furniture with Johnson Cotton Co. and was the owner/operator of Cain Owens Furniture on Moore St. in Sanford. Most recently he was in sales at Central Carolina Chevrolet in Sanford. He was actively involved with many civic organizations to include the Exchange Club, Rotary, Elks and more and served as the Chairman and Vice Chairman of the Sanford Housing Authority from 2/19-1990 to 6/27/2001. He was loved and cherished by his family and friends. He was pre-deceased by his parents & sister, Mary Owens. Survived by his wife Judith Ann Cain of Sanford, NC, sister Gilda Horne (Bob) of Fayetteville, NC, daughters: Rhonda McAuliffe of Hilton Head, SC and Deborah Howe (Terry) of Charlotte, NC.; sons, Michael (Cindy) of Sanford; John (Courtney) of Raleigh, NC, 8 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren and nephews Jimmy and Jeff Owens. A visitation will be held on Thursday, June 2, 2011 from 6-8:30 p.m. at Miller-Boles Funeral Home in Sanford. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, June 3, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at Salem United Methodist Church in the Eastover community of Fayetteville, NC. The family requests that in lieu of flowers contributions be made to organizations of your choice. Miller-Boles Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Sanford is serving the family.
