Marsha Compton Koury, age 56 of Sanford, NC died on Sunday, May 29, 2011 at her home in Sanford. She was born on May 14, 1955 in Orange County, NC to Robert “Bobby” Efland and the late Jane Compton Efland. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Sanford. She was a graduate of Orange County High School Class of 1974. She enjoyed worship and bible study. Marsha loved to kayak at the beach and actively kayaked until her illness prevented her from this activity. She received her Associate Degree in Childcare Education from Central Carolina Community College and enjoyed working with children. She is survived by her husband of 25 years, Robin Koury, Jr. of Sanford; her son Jared Koury of Sanford; her father, Bobby Efland of Efland, NC; a sister, Debra Stout of Swepsonville, NC; and a brother Mark Efland of Efland, NC. She is also survived by three nieces, two nephews, one great-niece and a great-nephew. In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her sister, Lynn Anderson. Funeral service in Sanford will be held on Wednesday, June 1, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Sanford with Rev. Betty Sherrod officiating. Viewing will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Funeral service in Efland will be held on Wednesday, June 1, 2011 at 3:00 p.m. at Efland Presbyterian Church in Efland. Viewing will be held one hour prior to the funeral at the church. Burial will follow at Efland Presbyterian Church Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to: Salvation Army, 305 S.
