Humphries, Donnie Joe
Turbeville: Mr. Donnie J. Humphries, 72, died Thursday, May 26, 2011, in the McLeod Hospice House. Mr. Humphries was born in Florence County, son of Russell H. Humphries and the late Kathleen Gaskins Humphries. Mr. Humphries was a member of the Lake City First Baptist Church where he was a member of the Jeffords Sunday School Class. He worked with the various Ford dealerships in Lake City since graduating from high school and retired as service manager. He was a member of the Lake City Fire Department and received the Raymond Askins Award in 1992. Mr. Humphries loved racing cars and had a “Need for Speed.” Mr. Humphries is survived by his wife of thirty-two years, Anne Humphries, of Turbeville; his father, Russell H.(Duna) Humphries of Lake City; step-son, Carl(Linda) Schultz of Gable; granddaughters, Hannah and Magan Schultz, both of Gable; brother, James Russell(Frances) Humphries; sister Cheryl(Randy)Coker, both of Lake City; nieces, Penny(Troy)Green of Myrtle Beach, Melissa (Cecil)Purvis; nephews, Carvel R.”Skeet”(Tracy) Coker of Lake City; James Russell (Kim) Humphries, Jr. of Columbia, Jay S.(Randi) Humphries of Scranton, Brian Rogers of Columbia. Mr. Humphries was predeceased by a sister, Betty Rogers. Funeral services for Mr. Humphries will be at 11:00 Saturday in the Lake City First Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the Lake City Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to the Lake City First Baptist Church, Post Office Box 820, Lake City, South Carolina 29560 or to a charity of one‘s choice.
