Mr. Dexter Lawayne “Wayne” James, 63, passed away peacefully Friday, May 20th, 2011 in McLeod Hospital after a long illness. Mr. James was born in Coward on December 22nd, 1947. He was a son of the late Thomas P. James and the late Margie Estelle Evans James and was the husband of Dorothy C. James. Mr. James was a member of Friendfield Pentecostal Holiness Church and was retired from Abbot Industries where he worked as a Plant Manager. He was an avid outdoorsman. Mr. James loved fishing, hunting, gardening, and camping. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend who will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved him. Mr. James‘ surviving family includes his wife of forty-three years, Dorothy C. James, of the home; his son, Timmy James (Rhonda); his daughter, Pamela Smith (Howard), both of High Hill; his five grandchildren, Christopher Hill, Catherine Smith, Jacob James, Joshua James, and Joseph James; his brother, Delano James (Deloris), of High Hill; his three sisters, Voncille Foxworth (Bobby), of Coward, Clara Smith (Laverne), of Coward, and Janice Floyd (Tommy), of Lake City; his sister-in-law, Mary James, of High Hill; his brother-in-law, Grover Cox (Audrey), of Ellerbee, North Carolina; and a large number of nieces and nephews. Mr. James is preceded in death by his brother, George James. Funeral services for Mr. James will be held at four o‘clock p.m., today, Sunday, May 22nd, 2011 in the Friendfield Pentecostal Holiness Church. Burial will follow the funeral services in the Friendfield Pentecostal Holiness Church Cemetery. Brockington Funeral Home, Lake City, is in charge.
