Mr. King died Friday, May 20, 2011. Born in Darlington Co., SC, he was a son of Kathryn Ellis King and the late Charles Vernon King. He was a member of New Providence Baptist Church. He was the owner and operator of Pee Dee Adaptive Equipment and was also a farmer. He served in the United States Army in Vietnam and received the Purple Heart and Medal of Valor. Many faithful friends always rallied around him. Surviving are his wife, Diane Atkinson King of Hartsville, SC; mother of Hartsville, SC; sons, Marty Goodman and Jeff Goodman, both of Hartsville, SC; sister, Kathy (Freddie) Stanley; brother, Richard (Terri) King; three faithful friends, Bizzi, Desi and Mazi. He was preceded in death by his brother, Bobby King. The family would like to extend special gratitude to his caregiver, Jammie Washington. Funeral services for Charles Vernon “Buzzy” King, Jr., 61, will be held at 4:00 p.m. Monday, May 23, 2011 at New Providence Baptist Church. The Rev. Cliff Leonard will officiate with burial in the church cemetery. Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home is serving the family.
