Ray, Don

Don Ray: After bidding his family and friends farewell on Saturday, May 14, 2011, Don Ray, 75, valiantly departed this mortal body to be present with his Lord and join his waiting loved ones especially his wife of 57 years, Iva Nell Morris Ray. Mr. Ray was born the son of General Marion Ray and Myrtle Russell Ray on September 16, 1935. He was educated at the Oak Grove School but earned his degree in Life‘s University of Hard Knocks and was the founder and operator of Candlestick Furniture Store. He was a part of the Holy Trinity Pentecostal Holiness Church for many years; and was a member of the Georgetown First Pentecostal Holiness Church where he served in the Men‘s Fellowship, as an Usher, as a Sunday School Teacher, as a Sanctuary choir member, and was a part of the Fifty and Over Club. His Legacy of Laughter will resound through hearts and minds for generations to come. Don and Iva Nell were married August 22, 1953, and celebrated 57 years together. From their blessed union survives: one son, Donnie Leon (Lisa) Ray; two grandchildren, Leslie Elizabeth (Jerry) Fore, III, and Daniel Lee Ray; two great grandchildren, Ashlin Elisabeth Fore and Jaxson Levi Fore. He bid farewell to three brothers, Dan (Betty) Ray, Bob Ray, and Frank (Jenny) Ray; four sisters, Ruth (Luther) Forbes, Betty R. Goodwin, Elizabeth Johnson, and Annie Mae Pugh; and a large number of nieces and nephews. He joins his waiting Heavenly family: his parents; his wife; his brothers and their wives, David and Bela Ray and JD and Hazel Ray; his sister and her husband, Adrea and Harry Fulton. A Home Going Celebration will be 11 AM, Tuesday, May 17, 2011 at the Georgetown First Pentecostal Holiness Church directed by the Georgetown Chapel of McKenzie Funeral Home. A private interment will follow immediately after the service. Visitation will be 6–8 PM Monday, May 16, 2011 in the sanctuary of the Georgetown First Pentecostal Holiness Church.
