Dorothy Anell Miller Pope, 66, the beloved wife of Donald Lane Pope, went home to be with the Lord, Saturday, May 7, 2011, at MUSC. Mrs. Pope was born the daughter of William H. Miller and Minnie Lee Miller on September, 25, 1944 in Hemingway, SC. She was educated in the Georgetown County; was a plant seamstress; and labored on the family farm. She was a member of Freedom Tabernacle and was a former member of Marsh Chapel where she served as Sunday School teacher, VBS worker, and Women‘s Auxiliary. Dorothy and Donald were married on June 30, 1972, and celebrated 39 years together. From their blessed union was born: three children; Donald Lane (Michelle) Pope, Jr., Tangela “Jean” Jeneane (David) Thompson, and Wendy Anne (Barry) Powers; five grandchildren, Stephen Cody Thompson, Brandon David Thompson, Steven Bennett Owens, Nancy Madison Pope, and Hunter Raven Pope. She leaves behind: a mother-in-law, Peggy Ann Wooten Pope; her siblings, Junior (Gertrude) Miller, Leona (Luther) Marlowe, Hoyt (Peggy) Miller, Charlie (Matt) Miller, Juanita “Nita” (David) Marlowe, Clara Poston, Leo (Linda) Miller, and Duvall (Jennie) Miller; and a large number of nieces and nephews. She joins waiting heavenly family: her parents; her sister, Mary Marlowe, and her brother-in-law, Doodle Poston. A Home Going Celebration will be 4 PM Wednesday, May 11, 2011 at Freedom Tabernacle Full Gospel Church with interment in the Old Field Cemetery directed by the Hemingway Chapel of McKenzie Funeral Home.
