Howie, James

James Dwight Howie Jr., age 64 of Carthage, NC passed away on Monday, April 18, 2011 at his home. He was born on April 26, 1946 in Lee County, NC to the late James Dwight Howie and Bertha Yow Howie. Mr.Howie retired as a Sergeant from the NC Dept. of Corrections, where he worked for 30 years. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He is survived by his wife, Carol Dean Bailey of Carthage, NC; his step-father, Leroy L. Wilson of Carthage, NC; a son, Dwayne Howie and wife Sherry of Carthage, NC; and a daughter, Anita Howie Wicker and husband Curtis of Carthage, NC. He is also survived by six grandchildren: Crystal Howie, Amie Howie, Jessica Howie, Braeden Love, Gabriella Wicker, and Noel Wicker. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, April 20, 2011 at 3:00 p.m. at Center United Methodist Church Cemetery with Chaplain Bob Bulles officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Red Branch Baptist Men‘s Group, 1748 Old River Road Carthage, NC 28327.
