Anderson, Marguerite

Marguerite Craft Anderson, 87, of Darlington died on April 13, 2011. Mrs. Anderson was born in Lydia, SC, on July 31, 1923, the daughter of the late Ben Tillman and Ethel Craft. She was married to Sammie B. Anderson, Jr. for over 50 years until his death in 1991. Mrs. Anderson was employed for many years at Milliken Cotton Mill, Nytronics, and was a volunteer at Wilson Hospital and Meals on Wheels through the Darlington County Council on Aging. She also retired from the Darlington Piggly Wiggly where she was known for her friendliness to all, and she attended the Darlington First Church of God. She is survived by her sons, Wayne Anderson and Sammie B. (Mary Della) Anderson; a daughter, Sandra (Delton) Munn of Florence, 8 grandchildren: Andy Anderson, Joey (Tammy) Anderson, Angie (Tim) Kirven, Sherri (Jeff) Helton, Amber (Eric) Jacobs, Tracy (Carol) Anderson, Chris (Suzanne) Anderson and Heather (Jacob) Corbett; and 8 great-grandchildren: Haley Helton, Whitney Helton, Hillary Anderson, Sarah Anderson, Garrett Anderson, Zachary Jacobs, Coby Anderson and Anne Morgan Jacobs; sisters: Iris Clark and Eunice (Marvin) Hines; and brother, Ben (Virginia) Craft. Mrs. Anderson was predeceased by her parents and her husband as well as his sister, Ollie Mae Pack, Dorothy Stempien, Ethel Woodham, and Bernice Blackmon. A memorial service and visitation will be held on Thursday, April 14, in the Belk Funeral Home Chapel in Darlington, SC at 6:00 p.m. Graveside service will be on Friday, April 15, at Swift Creek Baptist Church cemetery in Darlington at 11:00 a.m. Memorials may be made to the Saints Alive Ministry c/o Darlington First Church of God, 620 N. Main Street, Darlington, SC 29532 or to the Men‘s Brotherhood c/o Elim Baptist Church, 1303 Olanta Highway, Effingham, SC 29541 in lieu of flowers. The family would like to extend their appreciation to the caregivers of Southland Health Care Center, especially Berneatha Johnson, for the outstanding love and care they provided to Mrs. Anderson during her residence there and to Dr. Gilliam Skinner for his medical care and compassion.
