John Edward “Pity” Poston, 67, a beloved father and the husband of Nancy A. Barnhill, was reunited with his first born son, John Darren Poston, and his ting loved ones, on Monday, March 28, 2011. He was born a son of John Patrick Poston and Gracie McCallister Poston, on June 17, 1943, in Hemingway, SC. He was a retired Telephone Line Man for Black Industries. He was part of the Freedom Tabernacle church family. He was an avid outdoorsman who fishing, gardening especially his tomatoes, and raising his dogs. John and Nancy were married on January 26, 1968 and celebrated 43 years together. From their blessed union was born three sons, John Darren Poston, Joseph Edward Poston, and John William (Kinah) Poston. Surviving in addition are four brothers, James Earl Poston, David Allen (Renee) Poston, Terry Lee (Ann) Poston, and Robert Wayne (Sherrie) Poston; one sister, Rose Marie (Johnny) Owens; and a large extended family including Wanda A. Poston, the Barnhill family, and a number of nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; a son; two brothers, Paul Willard Poston and George Lewis Poston. A Home Going Celebration will be 4PM Thursday, March 31, 2011, at the Freedom Tabernacle Full Gospel Church with interment in the church cemetery directed by the Hemingway Chapel of McKenzie Funeral Home.
