New Traffic Light Coming To Horry Co. Intersection After Fatal Crash

Officials have approved a new traffic signal at an Horry County intersection.

A crash occurred at the intersection of Highway 90 and Highway 22 that resulted in the death of Atlantic Collegiate Academy student Ava Holland.

Following the accident, the 15-year-old’s coach and classmates began advocating for changes in the area. They went as far as starting a petition and collecting signatures for changes to be made.

The South Carolina Department of Transportation has now approved for a stop-and-go signal for the ramp connecting Highway 90 to 22 eastbound. It is unclear when the light will be operational.
