Mr. Ervin “Medlin” Locklear, 83, of 1069 Wesley Road, was born March 15, 1927 and died Friday, February 25, 2011, at his home. Surviving are five sons: Mr. Jackie Locklear of Baltimore, MD, Mr. Charles Locklear of Rowland, Mr. Ray Locklear, Mr. Mark Locklear both of Maxton and Mr. Roger Locklear of Pembroke; nine daughters: Mrs. Estell Epps, Mrs. Lina Brooks, Mrs. Arlene Locklear, Mrs. Geraldine Davis all of Maxton, Mrs. Peggy Locklear of Pembroke, Mrs. Linda Dial, Mrs. Maxine Caulder, Mrs. Sally L. Hammonds all of Rowland, Mrs. Faye Davis of Wagram; two sisters: Mrs. Brida Bell Locklear of Pembroke and Mrs. Martha Jane “Lady” Jacobs of Maxton; forty-three grandchildren, forty-two great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild; special friends: Mr. Dean Spaulding of the home; Ms. Percella Jones of Pembroke and Ms. Reatha Deese of Rowland; a special daughter-in-law: Mrs. Ruth Helen Locklear of Maxton and a host of relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife: Mrs. Ester B. Locklear; two sons: Mr. Harold Locklear and Mr. Marty Locklear; two grandchildren: Ms. Rhonda Renee Dial and Mr. Shawn Locklear and two great-grandchildren: Shilow Epps and Aiyanna Locklear. The funeral will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 1, 2011, at Bakers Chapel Baptist Church with the Revs: Lindbergh Chavis, Romey Revels and Chester Chavis officiating. Burial will follow in the Locklear Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday, February 28, 2011, from 7-9 p.m. at Locklear & Son Funeral Home.
