Locklear Sr, Stacy

Mr. Stacy Locklear, Sr., 74, of 504 N. Jones Street, Pembroke was born April 11, 1936 and departed this life on February 22, 2011 at home with family and friends. He was born in Robeson County, the oldest of ten children, to the late Mr. Thurman & Mrs. Velma S. Locklear. Mr. Locklear served in the US Army from 1955-1958 stationed in Germany. He was a career educator for the Public Schools of Robeson County for thirty-five years, serving nineteen years as principal of the Robeson County Career Development Center. He was a member of Prospect United Methodist Church for thirteen years and taught in the Senior Adult Sunday School Class for eleven of those years. He was also a former member of the Pembroke Lion‘s Club, Pembroke Planning Board and the Elder Teachers Project of UNC-Pembroke. He was passionate about learning and eager to broaden his horizons through travel and reading. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. Mr. Locklear is survived by his devoted wife of fifty years: Mrs. Betty C. Locklear of the home; a daughter: Ms. Nan O‘Lene Locklear of Pembroke; a son: Colonel Stacy Locklear, Jr. and his wife: Mrs. Missy of Fredericksburg, VA; he was also blessed with two wonderful grandchildren: Miss Kayla and Miss Kyra; four sisters: Ms. Hazel L. Hunt, Ms. Helen L. Smith, Mrs. Connie Locklear all of Pembroke and Mrs. Mary Lois Callahan of St. Pauls; three brothers: Mr. James Arnold Locklear of Pembroke, Mr. William Locklear of Lumberton and Mr. Joseph Locklear of Bladenboro and a host of relatives and friends. Mr. Locklear was preceded in death by his parents: Mr. Thurman and Mrs. Velma Sampson Locklear; a son: Mr. Alan Keith Locklear; a grandson: Master Stacy Ryan Locklear; a granddaughter: Miss Jessica Alan Locklear; a brother: Mr. Thurman Locklear, Jr. and a sister: Ms. Alice Locklear The funeral will be conducted 3:00 p.m. Sunday, February 27, 2011, at Prospect United Methodist Church with the Revs: Dr. Kenneth Locklear, Bill James Locklear and Chester Chavis officiating. Entombment will follow in the Lumbee Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Saturday, February 26, 2011, at Prospect United Methodist Church. Viewing will be one hour prior to services at the church.
