Williams, Joseph Edward

Joseph fell asleep on Friday, March 5, 2011. Born on October 13, 1946, to the late Jacob Williams and Eloise G Williams. He was the eldest child of Jacob and Eloise. He graduated from Centenary High School and South Carolina State University before being drafted into the United States Army. He was united in wedlock to Delois T Williams in Angust 1973. They had one son: Julian Todd Williams. His wife, Delois preceded him to the tomb in 2002. Joseph was once again joined in matrimony to Mae Hazel McCrimmon on Oct 20, 2006. Joseph was a man of many talents. Teaching, counseling, listening, landscaping, working, serving, giving, these are a few of the things Joseph was known for. With wisdom that only God could give, Joseph day after day provoked thought and motivated people into the next place in life simply by asking questions then listening. He was a faithful member of Calvary Baptist Church for years before leaving to join the World Wide Church of God. After years of service the church disbanded and he joined a new fellowship, Make a Joyful Noise Ministries, where he was to be ordained as a minister of the Gospel. Upon moving to South Carolina after retirement he was found in fellowship at Magnolia AME Church. As a readjustment counselor for the Veterans Administration for 15 years, Joseph, impacted the lives of our men and women of the armed forces in many ways. Food, clothes, parties, gift giving, counseling sessions and group therapy were all apart of Josephs everyday happenings. He organized trips for his fellow soldiers to the Vietnam Memorial Wall in Washington in order to help heal and be healed. He organized those same soldiers and went to the hospitals at Christmas to deliver toys to the children to heal and be healed. He was a people person. Always willing to help in anyway he was needed and often well beyond the immediate request. His laugh was contagious and his smile would light up a room. He was loyal to his family and his friends, honest in his work and faithful in his service. “…………God! God whatever God you be, speed my soul on its way but not in endless eternity. Thoughts of home come to me-don‘t let me go; please no-I‘m afraid! A cold refreshing wind penetrates my bones-what a strange place to be. I hear familiar voices that have long passed from existence-I see faces-faces of friends long since dead. I realize now what has happened and where I am, yet I am happy with those whose names are carved in stone amidst the grass of a place called Arlington. Please don‘t weep for me for I no longer worry about what tomorrow brings…for me it brings a much needed rest…..a rest forever.” Captain George Skypeck He leaves his wife Mae Hazel Williams of Florence SC ; one sister Avis Freshwater of Mullins SC; 3 sons Julian Williams Chris McCrimmon and Myron McCrimmon , one daughter Sabrina Salmon, 4 sister in laws,5 brother in laws, several godchildren, a host of adopted sons and daughters, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, acquaintances, and fellow workers, saints and friends.
