Inmate Arrested After Attempted Escape At A Florence Medical Center

Authorities found Shaw hiding in a mechanical room in the building. He was taken into custody without further incident.

One inmate of the Florence County Detention Center is now facing new charges following an attempted escape.

24-year-old Tyquan Shaw was receiving medical treatment at McLeod Regional Medical Center on Sunday when he attempted to flee from an officer.

Shaw was reportedly not restrained while showering when he ran past the assigned guard. He fled during which he knocked a registered nurse to the floor. They were evaluated and treated but released later that evening.

The hospital was put on lock down and a thorough search was conducted. Authorities found Shaw hiding in a mechanical room in the building. He was taken into custody without further incident.

Shaw has been charged with escape and additional charges are possible.
