Trump Decides Not To Livestream Fort Hood Attacker’s Execution
Only immediate family members of the deceased victims killed in the rampage will be permitted to attend in person if they choose.
President Trump has made a decision on a topic that is controversial.
Nidal Hasan was sentenced to death after he opened fire at the Fort Hood Texas base in 2009. He killed 13 people and injured 20 others. It was recently decided that Hasan will be executed by firing squad. It will mark the first military execution in over 65 years.
Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth announced that the execution would be livestreamed for the public to watch. That decision faced major backlash and President Trump had to debate the Pentagon’s plan.
Trump took to Truth Social to say that the execution will not be livestreamed. He said, broadcasting it could serve as a powerful deterrent to terrorism but acknowledged that many Americans would rather not witness Hasan’s death.
The execution is scheduled for Dec. 3. Only immediate family members of the deceased victims killed in the rampage will be permitted to attend in person if they choose.
