Cornell Student Accused In Sexual Assault Case Asks For Gag Order
The civil lawsuit was brought on by a former Cornell University student who alleged she was sexually assaulted by seven men.
One of the accused men named in the Cornell University sexual assault case is asking for a gag order.
The civil lawsuit was brought on by a former Cornell University student who alleged she was sexually assaulted by seven men at the Chi Phi fraternity house. She filed the civil suit against the men and the university allegeding she had been drugged and raped. No criminal charges have been filed, but an investigation remains ongoing.
Attorneys for Diego Sarabia, one of the seven men, asked for “narrowly tailored restrictions” that would prevent lawyers and parties in the civil case from commenting on the allegations outside of the court. His lawyer said that a gag order would limit “possible juror prejudice” and prevent the potential release of sensitive information that could lead to “threats, doxing, intimidation, and extrajudicial contact.”
The judge has not yet commented. The case has rocked the university and launched massive protests.
