Nearly Six-Acre Woods Fire In Loris Area Now Contained

All structures were successfully protected but people in the area may continue to see smoke and possible flare-ups for an extended period of time.

A woods fire in the Loris area is now fully contained.

The blaze burned up an estimated six acres along Gause Road near Highway 139. Horry County Fire Rescue crews responded around 7pm on Saturday and have been battling the flames since.

The South Carolina Forestry Commission was called to assist with two plows to establish firebreak lines around the scorched areas. The Loris Fire Department also assisted.
