CCU Alumni Leads Team USA To Victory At Pickleball World Cup

Shelby Bates graduated as a Chanticleer in 2013. She went on to become captain of Team USA at the Pickleball World Cup.

A Coastal Carolina University alum lead Team USA to first place at the Pickleball World Cup.

Shelby Bates graduated as a Chanticleer in 2013. She went on to become captain of the U.S. team securing victories over Samoa, Bolivia, and Iran as undefeated.

Team USA advanced to the knockout round with wins over Thailand, New Zealand, and India. They went on to face host country Vietnam in the championship match taking home gold medals.

Bates also received an individual honor during the tournament as she was voted Best Captain among the professional team captains.

The Coastal Carolina Alumni Association congratulated Bates saying they can’t wait to see what she does next.
