Man Arrested After Allegedly Dragging Dog Behind Vehicle

One man is facing charges after reportedly dragging a dog behind a vehicle in Horry County.

On Friday, police responded to Cherry Hill Road after a witness reported seeing a dog being dragged behind a vehicle.

An investigation led officers to a residence on Harvey Road, where they located the vehicle involved and a deceased canine.

Authorities determined that the dog had been tied to the back of the vehicle and dragged around 3.5 miles before the driver stopped, placed the dog in the vehicle and returned home.

26-year-old Yudiel Navarro-Valazquez was identified as the driver who was arrested. He faces one felony animal cruelty charge and two misdemeanor charges, which stem from the mistreatment of two other dogs that officers located at the residence.
