Canada To Impose Retaliatory Tariffs On The U.S.

The U.S. on Canadian goods went into effect after the two countries failed to reach a deal following trade talks.

Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney said that Canada would implement retaliatory tariffs on the U.S. in response to the Trump administration’s new 50% tariffs.

Carney said that Canada would “match Washington’s new tariffs dollar for dollar in order to protect canadian workers, farmers, families and businesses.”

The retaliatory tariffs on the U.S. are set to be implemented starting on Sept. 8. The tariffs would be applied to goods including steel, dairy, appliances, electronics, paper, and more.

“Canada wants the benefits of being a state, without being one,” President Trump posted on Truth Social. He added, “They have also charged our great farmers, for many years, massive amounts of tariffs. No more!!!”
