Federal Judge Blocks Trump Order Limiting Mail-In Voting Ballots

Trump signed the executive order in March as part of his election integrity agenda. The Trump administration is expected to appeal the ruling.

A federal judge blocked the U.S. Postal Service from implementing part of President Trump’s executive order limiting mail-in voting rules.

The judge granted a preliminary injunction preventing the USPS from implementing or enforcing Section 3 of executive order 143999 for the November 3 midterm elections, or any earlier federal election.

The ruling prevents USPS from refusing to transmit mail-in or absentee ballots under the challenged section and blocks rulemaking to implement certain regulations outlined in the executive order for the November elections.

The injunction does not prevent the federal government from providing non-binding USPS guidance on ballot-mail envelopes. Trump signed the executive order in March as part of his election integrity agenda. The Trump administration is expected to appeal the ruling.
