Meanwhile, a passenger recorded a scary video of flames coming from the engine. The plane was headed to Charlotte but made a safe emergency landing back in Myrtle. American Airlines said the plane was taken out of service to be inspected by its maintenance team. Experts say bird strikes remain a significant challenge for commercial aviation across the United States, particularly during peak migration seasons.
