Man Charged After Allegedly Fatally Shooting His Uncle

31-year-old Tyler Woods allegedly shot his uncle and fled the scene before authorities arrived. He later surrendered without incident.

One man has been charged in connection to a fatal shooting in Robeson County.

Around 8:45pm on Friday, police responded to the 2400 block of Philadelphus Road near Pembroke on reports of a shooting.

Upon arrival, 56-year-old Earl Woods was found suffering from a gunshot wound. He was treated at the scene before being pronounced dead.

31-year-old Tyler Woods allegedly shot his uncle and fled the scene before authorities arrived. He later surrendered without incident.

Tyler has been charged with first-degree murder, possession of a weapon by a convicted felon, and discharging a weapon within an enclosure to incite fear.
