Ballot do’s and don’ts
The voting booth selfie and other restrictions in S.C.
MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WFXB) – – With Election Day less than two weeks away, many voters will be casting their ballot November 8th but before you head out to the polls, there are a few things you should know.
Many people are excited get out and vote and to let their friends and family know on social media, but in South Carolina and many other states, it is against the law to take a photo with your ballot by cellphone, video, camera or iPad. Officials warn that by doing so, you could face serious consequences.
In New Mexico, one woman was turned away for wearing a Donald Trump t-shirt to the polls. That’s because state law says no campaigning within 100 feet of a polling location. Here in the Palmetto State, a similar law exists: it is unlawful on Election Day to distribute any type of campaign materials or place political posters within 200 feet of any voting poll entrance.
