Man Accused In Pee Dee Paramedic’s Death Indicted On 17 Charges

Jaremy Smith is scheduled to appear at a hearing later this month at the Florence Federal Courthouse.

The man accused of murdering a Pee Dee paramedic was formally indicted.

34-year-old Jaremy Smith is already serving a life sentence for the murder of New Mexico state police officer Justin Hare in March of 2024. Smith killed the officer after murdering Phonesia Machado-Fore in Marion County.

Smith reportedly kidnapped, car jacked, and bound Machado-Fore before taking her into a secluded field and shooting her in the back of her head. He then allegedly went to her house, stole guns from her safe, and sold them.

Smith faces 17 federal charges of carjacking and kidnapping resulting in death, felon in possession of a weapon, and possession of firearms. He is scheduled to appear at a hearing later this month at the Florence Federal Courthouse.
