Trinity Rodman Becomes Highest-Paid Women’s Soccer Player
The new three-year deal, worth a reported $2 million a year including bonuses, will keep Rodman with Spirit until 2028.
Trinity Rodman has become the highest-paid women’s soccer player in the world.
The American soccer star had been a free agent since her previous deal with the Washington Spirit expired on December 31. But her new three-year deal, worth a reported $2 million a year including bonuses, will keep Rodman with Spirit until 2028.
“I think it’s a monumental and game-changing moment right now. I can’t even describe in words what it feels like,” Rodman said.
Last year, the salary cap for the National Women’s Soccer League was $3.5 million per team. But the NWSL Board of Governors approved a new ‘high impact player’ rule in December, which allowed teams to spend up to $1 million over the cap on players that meet certain criteria.
