Georgetown County To Introduce Several “Calm Spots”
The spots will be designed to help people decompress in natural settings.
Georgetown County plans to introduce “GC Calm” spots across several areas.
The calm spots come as a concept related to a Japanese practice called “shin-rinoku.” The goal aims to boost mental health by getting people outdoors, relieve stress, and disconnect from devices.
The spots will be designed to help people decompress in natural settings. They will offer basic directions, leading participants through breathing exercises, being intentional, listening, and observing surroundings.
The county is planning to create five calm spots with hopes to increase the number in the future. The first spot will be located at Morse Park in Murrells Inlet.
