Minor Arrested In Connection To Fatal Shooting Of 16-Year-Old

16-year-old Jonathan Gordon-Charles was a junior at South Florence High School.

A minor has been arrested in connection to the fatal shooting of a 16-year-old in Florence County.

The incident took place around 9:30pm Thursday along Waxwing Drive. Officers found 16-year-old Jonathan Gordon-Charles in critical condition after suffering gunshot wounds. He later died from the injuries he sustained.

A 14-year-old was arrested Monday. Investigators learned that the two teens planned to meet up in order for Gordon-Charles to sell the 14-year-old a THC vape pen. An altercation between them broke out during the meeting prompting shots fired.

A weapon was recovered from the scene that allegedly was in the victim’s possession. The 14-year-old has been detained at the Department of Juvenile Justice and is awaiting a hearing.

Gordon-Charles was a junior at South Florence High School.
