Trump Declares Christmas Eve And Post Christmas Day Federal Holidays

With the two additional holidays next week, that marks 13 federal holidays this year.

President Trump signed an order declaring Christmas Eve and post Christmas Day federal holidays this year.

Christmas Day is already on the federal holiday. Now, federal agencies will be closed on December 24 and 26 as well. Employees are excused from duty.

However, Trump noted that agency heads “may determine that certain offices and installations of their organizations, or parts thereof, must remain open and that certain employees must report for duty.”

With the two additional holidays next week, that marks 13 federal holidays this year. During his first term, Trump designated Christmas Eve as a federal holiday in 2019 and 2020. Former President Obama did the same for December 26 in 2014, as the day after Christmas fell on a Friday.
