Shredded Cheese Sold Under Various Brands Recalled

The products were sold in 31 states including North and South Carolina.

Over one million bags of shredded cheese has been recalled.

Great Lakes Cheese Co. placed the recall on low-moisture part-skim mozzarella shredded cheese, individually packaged in plastic bags. It was placed due to possible contamination with metal pieces.

The cheese was sold under many names including Great Value, Happy Farms by Aldi, Publix and others. The products were sold in 31 states including North and South Carolina.

The recall is classified as a Class II meaning the food “may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences.”

Consumers should throw the cheese out or return it to place of purchase for a refund.
