Wendy’s To Close Hundreds Of U.S. Locations
The new round of closures is set to come on top of 240 last year.
Wendy’s announced plans to close hundreds of restaurants over the next few months.
The closures will start in the fourth quarter of this year and the company expects a “mid-single-digit percentage” of its U.S. stores to be affected, but further details were not shared.
Wendy’s ended the third quarter with just over 6,000 U.S. restaurants. If 5% of those locations were impacted, it would mean 300 stores closing their doors.
The new round of closures is set to come on top of 240 last year. The decision comes as many of the wendy’s locations have been underperforming and are out of date. In some cases, Wendy’s will make improvements to struggling stores. In other cases, ownership will be transferred or the location will close altogether.
