AWS Recovering After Widespread Outage
That included Snapchat, Reddit, Fortnite, Disney+, Amazon itself and others.
Amazon’s cloud services unit is recovering Monday following a widespread outage.
Amazon Web Services went down knocking out a handful of websites along with some of the world’s most popular apps. That included Snapchat, Reddit, Fortnite, Disney+, Amazon itself and others.
Also disrupted was United Airlines with many travelers unable to check-in and a number of flights were delayed.
Most operations were recovered by 7am Monday morning, but AWS is still working toward a full recovery. The company cited an “operational issue” involving problems with the Domain Name System.
The situation marked the largest internet disruption since last year’s CrowdStrike malfunction impacted technology systems in hospitals, banks and airports.
