An investigation is underway after a body was found in Georgetown County.

The human remains were discovered in a canal off John Green Lane in Wedgefield Plantation.

The Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office responded to the incident at around 5:30pm Tuesday.

The investigation is currently in the early stages, but officials do not believe foul play was involved in the death.
