Man Admits To Drinking Before Fatally Striking Pedestrian

One man has been charged in connection to the death of a pedestrian.
39-year-old Camerino Hernandez was arrested in connection with a crash that occurred on September 30.
A van reportedly ran up onto the sidewalk and struck 60-year-old Elizabeth Coss along Highway 707 near Starbuck Lake Road in the Murrells Inlet area. The driver was identified as Hernandez.
Coss, a paraprofessional at St. James High School, was pronounced dead. Hernandez was transported to a hospital where he admitted to officers that he had been drinking that day.
Hernandez is charged with felony driving under the influence resulting in death and driving without a license. ICE has confirmed that he is illegally in the U.S. from Mexico.
