Horry Co. Council Approves Second Vote For New ER

The plans call for both a 20,000 square-foot ER and a 15,000 square-foot doctor's office.

Horry County Council members approved the second reading that will allow the construction of a new emergency room.

The three yes votes allows Tidelands-Health to move forward with plans to build the new emergency room along Forestbrook Road.

The plans call for both a 20,000 square-foot ER and a 15,000 square-foot doctor’s office that will be situated on the same property.

The closest emergency rooms in the area are around five miles away, which helped in the approving decision. However, residents are concerned that it would bring more traffic to an already heavily traveled area.

Officials note that crews are preparing to widen Forestbrook Road as part of the county’s ongoing Ride III project.

A third reading is set to be held and if the rezoning ordinance passes, construction could start after the first of the year.
