Marlboro Co. School Damaged After Shots Fired Into Building
An investigation found physical evidence including bullet casings and damaged school windows.
One man is facing charges after firing shots into the building that houses Marlboro Academy.
On Monday night, police responded to Academy Road in the Bennettsville area on reports of a possibly armed person acting erratically.
Upon arrival, Jerry Booth Jr. was located exhibiting “paranoid and disoriented behavior.’ He also had blood on himself and his gun.
An investigation found physical evidence including bullet casings and damaged school windows. Surveillance footage showed booth shooting his gun towards the building.
Damage to the school and a vehicle at the scene was estimated at around $12,000. Booth has been charged with discharging a firearm into a building, unlawful carry of a firearm and malicious injury to property of $10,000 or more.
