Fatal Myrtle Beach Drowning

An officer was flagged down by someone near 6th Avenue North.

One person was pronounced dead after drowning in the Myrtle Beach area.

Around 2am Sunday, an officer was flagged down by someone near 6th Avenue North.

A swimmer entered and exited the water, requesting help. The officer made contact with the person who was on the beach at the time.

A short time after, the swimmer went back into the water and visual contact was lost at 2:40am. Around 40 minutes later, they were located near 8th Avenue South.

They were taken to a hospital where they were pronounced dead. Further information was not immediately available.
